Nolberto Solano will coach League1 Ontario’s Internacional de Toronto
Internacional de Toronto, a member of the newly established League1 Ontario, will be hosting an official team launch event and media conference on Friday, May 02, at 11:30amin the Canada Room at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan .
League1 Ontario is a standards based, semi-professional soccer league sanctioned and operated by the Ontario Soccer Association. For 2014, it will feature 10 teams who were carefully selected to receive a license to join the league after a thorough application process.
Internacional de Toronto will kick off its debut seasonon May 31, 2014 when they take on Windsor Stars at the Ontario Soccer Centre Stadium Pitch at 1pm.


Former Peruvian international Nolberto Solano has been name head coach of Internacional de Toronto. This is Solano’sfirst overseas challenge as a coach, having arrived in Toronto last week and has already begun selecting and training his squad.

"This is a new challenge to continue my career overseas,” Solano says. “I've been in Europe for many years, now I'm going to a semi professional league that is not MLS, but that has good players and vision in regards to developing a professional league. It’s a start."

Solano, 39, has signed a two year contract with Internacional de Toronto. Prior to arriving in Canada, Solano had been the head coach of Peru’s highly popular Universitario de Deportes.

Solano enjoyed a highly successful playing career. After several successful years in his native Peru, Solano moved to Boca Juniors in Argentina in 1997, lining upalongside the legendaryDiego Maradona. He then enjoyed a fantastic run in the England, starring for clubs like Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham, Leicester and Hull City. He also earned 95 caps for the Peruvian Men’s National Team and is considered one of his nation’s most popular sports figures.

The Media Conference will feature remarks from Nolberto Solano, Internacional de Toronto Club President Juan Ramirez Gaston, Ontario Soccer Assoication President Ron Smale, League1 Ontario Chairman Dino Rossi, and special guest Benito Floro, Head Coach of the Canadian Men’s National Team.
Following the media conference, a Gourmet Food Reception will be provided, featuring the creations of Dennis Palma, executive chef of the prestigious Hunters Landing restaurant in downtown Toronto.
Q &A availability with team representatives and coach Solano will follow the conference.

Internacional de Toronto will announce the inaugural season of his team in League1 Ontario, semi-professional league, at a press conference on Friday, May 02, at 11:30am in the Canada Room at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan.
League 1 Ontario Teams were chosen through a standards-based application process. The first season will kick off in May 31, 2014. Internacional de Toronto CF will play Windsor at the Soccer Centre at 1pm.


Former Peruvian player Nolberto Solano will coach Toronto International, his first overseas challenge as a coach, said on Tuesday to the local Peruvian sports media.

"This is a new challenge to continue my career overseas. I've been in Europe for many years and looking forward to develop my coaching experience and career in Toronto.


Solano, 39, has signed a two year contract with Internacional de Toronto. He played for a decade in England.


"In Canada they follow the Premier League and they know me. Now as an ambassador for my country, I will do my best," said the ex-footballer.

In Peru, Solano coached the popular Universitario de Deportes.


Solano played for Boca Juniors in Argentina in 1997 alongside Diego Maradona.
He played for Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham, Leicester, Universitario of Peru abd Peruvian MNT captain.
